In February 2020 our Master Technician, Jon Taylor was packed off to Dent Devils Head Office in Colchester to be re-assessed for his ‘ata’ Automotive Technician Accreditation for Paintless Dent Repair. Accreditation is re-assessed every 3 years to ensure high standards are maintained within the industry.
We asked Jon to describe what was involved...
“Once the formalities of identification are in place, I started with an online theory test answering questions to do with methods, safety procedures and various aspects of car body repairs. When this was completed I was presented with a vehicle on which I had to identify 5 areas of damage and give my opinion of the best way to repair that damage and why.
I was then given another vehicle on which l was observed removing and replacing interior trim panels and a light unit while doing relevent pre and post checks to ensure correct methods were used so not to cause any damage or safety issues.
It was then on to the dent repairs! These are carried out against the clock and we are given three specific dents on test panels; one on a swage or bodyline of a door, another on an open, flat panel and the third in a restricted or double skinned panel. Just an hour is allowed for each dent so care needs to be taken to complete a clean repair in a hurry!
Being an 18 year technician l would expect to pass the test without too much bother but you can see how it would easily identify a technician that is not doing the job properly! “
The assessor’s comments at the end of the day were;
“ A very high quality assessment with excellent PDR repairs throughout. Overall exceptional.”
Check out the video below to see the dent repairs Jon completed, we hope you’ll agree he did a cracking job! Congratulations on retaining your accreditation and getting to keep the badge!!
ATA Accreditation February 2020
In August 2019 Dent Devils East Sussex opened the company’s first purpose built Paintless Dent Repair facility in Eastbourne. This facility creates the perfect environment to allow our technicians to carry out larger and more complex repairs that would otherwise be considered impossible for a paintless dent repair. We can regularly repair damage that has been turned down by other companies due to their lack of the latest tooling, technologies and suitable facilities.
The workshop is open to all with repairs regularly being carried out for Car manufacturers, dealerships, hire companies, body shops and insurance companies as well as members of the public. Anyone that would like advice on PDR or a quote to repair their vehicle is welcome to call in to the shop on the Birch Estate in Eastbourne.
We are open Monday -Friday 9.00 - 17.30 and Saturday 9.00 - 12.30.
